The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is constructing around 8,000 new Primary Healthcare Centres across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
Speaking in Kaduna during a presentation of the President’s mid-term report, Idris, represented by the Zonal Director of the Federal Information Resource Centre, Hajia Rabi Rufa’i, said the initiative is designed to guarantee affordable and quality healthcare for all Nigerians.
He explained that alongside healthcare development, the Federal Government is also working on more than 70 highways across the six geopolitical zones to improve road networks and accessibility.

According to the Minister, the economy recorded a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of 3.4 per cent in 2024, marking the second-highest rate in a decade. He added that the government had successfully reduced Nigeria’s budget deficit from 50 per cent in 2023 to about 23 per cent in 2025.
Highlighting further progress, Idris disclosed that Nigeria recorded its first trade surplus in 25 years, valued at over N18 trillion in 2024, while renewed investor confidence has attracted more than $40 billion in new investments.
The Kaduna event drew participants from various sectors, including market women, religious organisations such as Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), district leaders, and paramilitary groups.
