Nigeria’s U-17 boys’ football team, the Golden Eaglets, are intensifying preparations for next month’s WAFU-B U17 Boys’ Tournament as coach Manu Garba and his technical crew work to build a squad capable of bringing glory to the nation.
The five-time world champions displayed their firepower on Wednesday with a commanding 5-0 victory over Winsome FC in a friendly match held at the FIFA Goal Project, MKO Abiola National Stadium.
The Eaglets took control early, going two goals up before half-time, and proved even sharper after the break with three more strikes to seal the emphatic win. Winsome FC, who hail from Oporoza Island in Warri South West, Delta State, were unable to match the hosts’ pace and precision.
This was the fourth friendly match for the Golden Eaglets as they continue their build-up to the regional tournament. In their earlier warm-up games, the team brushed aside Espora Football Academy of Abuja 4-0, edged past GASA of Ilorin 1-0, and came from behind to beat Bandex Football Academy of Kebbi 3-2.
