Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has called on residents of the Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North Federal Constituency to throw their full support behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Princess Adesola Elegbeji, in the upcoming bye-election. The poll, set for Saturday, 16 August 2025, was prompted by the death of Adewunmi Onanuga, the constituency’s representative and former Deputy Chief Whip of the Federal House of Representatives, who passed away on 15 January 2025 after a brief illness.
Leading Princess Elegbeji’s campaign to Ikenne, Ogijo, Sagamu, and other areas, Governor Abiodun urged voters to see her candidacy as an opportunity to secure quality representation, decisive leadership, and tangible progress in the constituency. “Today, we joined Princess Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the forthcoming Remo Federal Constituency by-election, during her campaign activities in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area. We charged our party stalwarts, supporters, and the good people of Remo Federal Constituency to come out en masse and cast their votes for our party’s flagbearer. Doing so will ensure quality, effective, and impactful representation for the constituency at the National Assembly. We remain confident that with Princess Ayoola-Elegbeji as our representative, the voice of Remo Federal Constituency will be stronger, and the development of our dear constituency will be further advanced,” he said.

Paying tribute to the late Onanuga, fondly known as “Ijaya”, Governor Abiodun assured residents that Princess Elegbeji would continue all legacy projects initiated by her predecessor. He urged constituents not to lose heart but instead to turn out in large numbers on election day, stressing the importance of unity among party members to secure a decisive victory for the APC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the 16 August bye-election to fill vacant seats in both the National Assembly and various state Houses of Assembly.
