Liverpool’s Salah Secures Record Third PFA Honour

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has written his name into football history after being crowned the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year for 2025, making him the first ever player to secure the accolade three times.

Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers collected the Young Player of the Year award, while Gareth Southgate, former England manager, was honoured with the PFA Merit Award for his lasting contributions to the game and his achievements with the national side.

The announcement was made by the PFA on Tuesday. At 33, Salah was instrumental in Liverpool’s Premier League title success last season, finishing the campaign as the division’s leading scorer with 29 goals and providing 18 assists.

Reflecting on his career, Salah said, “Of course I wanted to be a football player and I wanted to be famous and provide for my family, but you don’t think about the big stuff when you are still in Egypt. When you grow, you start to see things differently and you start to have ambition and you start to see the bigger picture.”

The Egyptian forward’s dominance this season had already been recognised with both the 2024–25 Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year titles, underlining a remarkable individual campaign.

He overcame competition from a shortlist that included Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice.
