The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has unveiled a set of digital study portals to support students preparing for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). This initiative forms part of WAEC’s broader effort to provide candidates with accessible and effective preparation tools.
The launch was announced during a press briefing on Thursday by Dr Amos Dangut, Head of WAEC’s Nigeria National Office. He explained that the new digital platforms offer comprehensive resources across WASSCE core, arts, science, and commercial subjects, equipping candidates with critical materials to aid their revision.
“WAEC E-Study Portal is the approved exams preparatory platform, designed for candidates preparing to sit the WASSCE. This enables schools, teachers, and students to access past WASSCE questions (multiple-choice or theory-based), learning plans, marking schemes, and performance insights,” Dr Dangut said.
Students are encouraged to visit waec.estudy.ng to access the platform.
In addition to past questions and marking guides, the portal features performance analytics, enabling students to assess their strengths and identify areas needing improvement. “Students’ performances in previous examinations are analysed with the aim of highlighting candidates’ weaknesses and proffering solutions to assist candidates’ learning,” he added.
Dr Dangut also highlighted the availability of additional learning materials on WAEConline.org.ng, including answers to past questions, marking schemes, and Chief Examiners’ Reports. “This is a compilation of past WASSCE questions with responses, the marking schemes, and Chief Examiners’ Report on the relevant examination diets, to aid candidates’ learning,” he explained.
WAEC has also introduced WAEC Konnect, a separate platform designed to facilitate communication between candidates, schools, and the Council. The portal aims to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged in the exam preparation process.
“Also, the WAEC Konnect portal has been developed to enable candidates and stakeholders to interact with the Council, as well as with each other, in preparation for the examination,” said Dr Dangut.
WAEC Konnect, accessible via waeckonnect.com, also features previous exam papers, suggested answers, and Chief Examiners’ reports to help boost candidates’ confidence and competence.
The Council, a statutory examination body for English-speaking West African nations, continues to innovate in response to the evolving educational landscape. It is poised to conduct its first-ever Computer-Based Test (CBT) for WASSCE, with an estimated 1.97 million candidates from over 23,500 schools across Nigeria expected to participate.
This move follows WAEC’s earlier launch of a digital certificate platform in October 2022, which allows for global access and verification of certificates. The platform is seen as a significant advancement in ensuring faster, more secure, and reliable credentialing processes for students and institutions worldwide.
