The Rivers State government has announced plans to revitalise the Songhai Integrated Farms as part of its efforts to enhance food production and generate sustainable employment for the youth.

Speaking during an inspection visit to the facility in Bunu Tai, Tai Local Government Area, Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas (Rtd), emphasised the farm’s potential to improve food security and reduce dependence on imported agricultural products.

Ibas stated that the restoration of the farm would not only boost food production but also create valuable job opportunities, particularly for young people across the state. He stressed that the project would benefit the local economy and contribute to national development.

He further noted that local farmers stand to gain from the initiative, which aims to strengthen agricultural productivity and increase the supply of homegrown food.

Calling for the support of the community, Ibas urged leaders, youths, and women to help protect government infrastructure and collaborate with security agencies to ensure the safety of public assets.
