Presidency Tells Datti Baba-Ahmed: Tinubu Will Win 2027 Easily

The Presidency has dismissed growing speculation about a potential opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections, branding the idea a “hallucination.” Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Communications, made the remarks via his official X account, arguing that there is no credible evidence or endorsement to support the existence of such a coalition.

Bwala described the supposed alignment between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and other opposition groups as a baseless media fabrication. He asserted, “To say a political coalition is surging when in fact no one is interested in it is a political hallucination.”

No Credible Coalition: Presidency Mocks Rumoured Opposition Alliance

According to Bwala, key political figures and institutions have openly denied involvement in any coalition discussions. He pointed out that the PDP Governors’ Forum and the party’s National Working Committee have made it clear they are not participating in any alliance talks. He also highlighted recent comments from Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, who explicitly stated he is not engaged in any such negotiations.

“Peter Obi said he is not in any coalition talks. Labour Party people said they are not interested. The PDP Governors Forum said they’re not in. So who exactly is in this so-called coalition?” Bwala questioned.

He went on to criticise the narrative of opposition unity, insisting that real political momentum lies with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he claimed is gaining strength through a wave of defections, including a former PDP vice-presidential candidate. “In contrast, the party surging is APC; receiving defectors left, right, and centre,” he added. “It is not a coalition, but hallucination.”
