Edun Calls for Flexible Agricultural Policy to Combat Food Insecurity in Nigeria

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, has expressed strong support for collaboration with Propcom+, a UK Aid-funded initiative aimed at promoting climate-resilient agriculture and market development. The programme, which spans from 2023 to 2030, seeks to stimulate economic growth among smallholders and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in regions impacted by conflict and climate challenges.

During a meeting with the Propcom+ delegation on Tuesday, Mr Edun emphasised the Nigerian government’s focus on inclusive economic growth, driven by strategic investments in agriculture. He outlined ongoing collaborative efforts involving the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the African Development Bank, and various stakeholders, all aimed at improving access to subsidised inputs and financial support for smallholder farmers during both wet and dry farming seasons.
