A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 struck Indonesia’s Sulawesi region on Saturday, according to the country’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), which announced the event via the X platform. Authorities confirmed that the tremor did not pose any tsunami threat.
The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), however, recorded the quake slightly lower at magnitude 5.9, placing it at a depth of 109 kilometres (68 miles) beneath the surface.
As of now, there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties resulting from the quake.
