The Kaduna State Government has joined forces with the Aliko Dangote Foundation to roll out a large-scale food distribution campaign designed to support the most vulnerable communities in the state. The programme, which officially began on Thursday, will see 35,000 bags of 10-kilogram rice distributed across all 23 local government areas of Kaduna.
At the official launch, Governor Uba Sani, represented by his Chief of Staff, Sani Kila, extended his appreciation to the Aliko Dangote Foundation for its steadfast dedication to combating hunger and poverty in Nigeria. He noted that each local council would receive 1,500 bags of rice, marking a vital step in the administration’s broader social welfare agenda.
“The Aliko Dangote Foundation’s initiatives resonate with our administration’s policies and programs focused on social investment,” Governor Sani stated.
The Governor reiterated his government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the delivery of essential services, particularly in health, education, and social welfare, with the aim of improving citizens’ quality of life. He further outlined his administration’s overarching goals, which include inclusive economic recovery, promoting financial literacy, and supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs).
According to him, “We are dedicated to improving the living conditions of the poor and vulnerable in our state and will continue partnering with foundations like the Aliko Dangote Foundation.”
Speaking on behalf of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Sadiq Ahmed provided further details about the food relief initiative, which seeks to reach more than one million underserved Nigerians across the country. He emphasised that the project reflects the foundation’s deep-rooted values of compassion and solidarity, particularly amid the nation’s current economic challenges.
“This distribution of palliatives reflects our commitment to supporting communities and embodies our shared responsibility in mitigating the effects of hardship,” Ahmed said.
The programme covers all 774 local government areas nationwide, showcasing a far-reaching strategy aimed at tackling hunger and promoting sustainable community development. As the initiative progresses, it highlights the importance of public-private collaboration in addressing poverty and ensuring food security for Nigeria’s most at-risk populations.
