The government of Adamawa State in Northeast Nigeria has sanctioned contracts exceeding N23 billion for a series of critical infrastructure developments across the state.
Key among the approved initiatives is the construction of a state-of-the-art International Conference and Event Centre, alongside the upgrading of the state stadium and a number of other development schemes.
This decision was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr James Iliya, following a State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the Government House in Yola, presided over by Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta.
Leading the new projects is the Adamawa State International Conference and Event Centre, a major undertaking awarded to Messrs Lubell Nigeria Limited at a cost of N18.97 billion. According to Iliya, upon completion, the facility is expected to become a strategic economic asset, attracting investment, generating revenue, creating jobs, and offering a world-class venue for various events.
The centre is designed to house a 1,000-seat multipurpose hall, multiple syndicate rooms, a 350-seat auditorium, a 100-seat seminar room, pre-function gathering spaces, restaurants, retail outlets, cafés, a medical support area, CCTV and security operations, as well as landscaped concourse zones.
In addition, the council has approved a revised roofing and redesign plan for the Adamawa State Stadium Complex. This contract, valued at N1.96 billion and awarded to Messrs Aron Nigeria Limited, aims to bring the facility up to international specifications and enhance its structural integrity against wind damage.
Also receiving the green light is the refurbishment and remodelling of the Adamawa State Governor’s Lodge located in Kaduna. This project, entrusted to Messrs Albarka Building Construction Limited, comes with a price tag of just over N614 million.
Further supporting rural development, the council endorsed N2 billion as counterpart funding for the Rural Access Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP-SU). This initiative seeks to enhance rural infrastructure and strengthen agricultural trade.
In a separate move, the state government has issued a ban on the posting of posters on public structures, warning that offenders will be subject to legal action.
These sweeping developments reflect the administration’s intensified commitment to economic revitalisation and infrastructural transformation under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s leadership.
