Three senators from Kebbi State have formally met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja to declare their decision to defect from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The senators—Adamu Aliero of Kebbi Central, Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi of Kebbi North, and Garba Maidoki of Kebbi South—were prominent figures within the PDP before choosing to align with the APC. Their move is considered a significant political shift in the state’s representation at the national level.
Their visit to President Tinubu on Friday was a high-profile affair, as they were accompanied by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, Kebbi State Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris, and Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto. Also in attendance were several other APC chieftains from Kebbi State, signalling strong support for their defection.
