The Kaduna State Government has officially annulled the sale of residential properties located within several of its public educational institutions, specifically Queen Amina College, Alhuda-Huda College, and Government Commercial College.
This development was confirmed by the Secretary to the State Government, AbdulKadir Meyere, who revealed in a statement that the decision to revoke the sales had been approved in the previous year. He also mentioned that arrangements are underway to reimburse all individuals who had made payments for the affected properties.
Meyere stated that this action reflects the government’s dedication to fostering human capital development and its ongoing efforts to create an environment conducive to teaching and learning across the state’s educational institutions.
According to Meyere, “the present administration has revoked all previous sales of institutional houses and land allocations within Alhuda-Huda College, Queen Amina College, and Government Commercial College in the overriding public interest and for the common good.”
He elaborated that the state is convinced that a distraction-free learning environment is crucial for optimal academic performance and personal development.
“Effective learning can best take place in a conducive atmosphere without distractions and sundry interferences. Education is not just a leveler, but also a ladder for upward mobility, which can transform lives and improve livelihoods.
“Some of the initiatives implemented by the Kaduna State Government include constructing over 2,336 new classrooms, renovating more than 707 classrooms, and providing 3,704 pieces of furniture for teachers and 30,742 pieces for pupils.
“Government has also sunk 51 boreholes and provided 918 cubicle toilets for both pupils and teachers,” Meyere explained.
He further noted that Governor Uba Sani has been actively working to enhance educational access by tackling infrastructural shortcomings in both primary and secondary schools across Kaduna.
