The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a revised date for the commencement of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which will now begin on Thursday, 24 April 2025, across Nigeria.
Originally scheduled to commence on Friday, 25 April, the exam has been brought forward by one day to accommodate what the Board referred to as “essential commitments by the Board and its partner agencies.”
This announcement was made in an official statement issued on Saturday, 19 April, by Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor.
“The 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is now set to commence on Thursday, 24th April, 2025, instead of the previously scheduled date of Friday, 25th April, 2025. This adjustment has been made to accommodate essential commitments by the Board and its partner agencies,” the statement read.
As part of the exam preparations, JAMB has opened its online portal for registered candidates to print their Examination Notification Slips.
Candidates are strongly advised to print their slips before their scheduled examination date, as the slip contains vital details including:
Date of examination
Examination centre (venue)
Time of examination

Candidates are also encouraged to familiarise themselves with their assigned centres in advance to avoid confusion or delays on the exam day.
JAMB has reiterated that candidates must take the examination only within the towns they selected during registration. Any attempt to write the UTME in a centre outside the assigned town will not be permitted under any circumstance.
“Please note that candidates will be assigned to centres within their chosen examination towns; no candidate will be placed in a centre outside their selected town,” the Board stated.
New Measures Against Exam Malpractice
In a continued effort to combat exam malpractice, JAMB recently launched decoy websites to trap individuals attempting to cheat. These fake websites were part of a sting operation that exposed at least 180 candidates, some of whom paid between ₦30,000 and above for fake exam question leaks and score manipulation services.
In preparation for the main UTME, JAMB also disbursed a total of ₦397,030,900 as transport allowances to 1,909 officials who participated in the nationwide mock examination held on 10 April 2025.
